Introducing Becky!
Becky (Rebecca) is an exceptionally talented and gifted poet, with remarkable passion and determination to make impactful strides in the world through her craft and this is very obvious in her zeal and her consistency in the world of Literature, specifically poetry speaks for itself. Her relatable and aesthetic style of writing is exactly why Becky is now here on the most prestigious Poetry platform in the world.
Today, we take a  foray into the world of Becky with excerpts below detailing her beautiful story.

"I am Becky (Rebecca) from @babyb.dreamsanddesires. I am a writer and aspiring poet. I have two poems published in an e-book anthology for Moonlit Weaver Collective's A Journey Under The Moonlight and 6 poems about to be published in the anthology Serenade of Euphoria with Autumn Leaves Publications.
I am from the East Coast of Australia. I live in Wollongong. Once known as the City of Steel, now known as the City of Innovation, it is a well loved area for the beautiful beaches and coastal lifestyle.

I am married, this year was our 24th anniversary and I have one adult son.
An avid reader and always curious, I started writing at a young age. My pop took us for summers down the coast and often to the beach. I was immersed in nature, and it fed my imagination. I particularly loved an Australian author, May Gibbs and the Gumnut Babies. I wrote stories and illustrated them with flowers.
As a teenager, I was intrigued by ancient history, art, and languages. I enjoyed creating, researching, and writing. I was also involved with public speaking and debating. In English classes, I was inspired by Shakespeare and Jane Austen. I loved getting lost in mysteries with Agatha Christie and fantasy worlds with J.R.R Tolkien in my spare time.

My parents decided art would not make money and thought I'd make a good accountant. When I finished high school, I went to university to study Commerce in my fathers footsteps. Completing my bachelor's degree in management and marketing in 2002. Over these years, I was only writing academically.

During that time, I worked casually as a checkout operator in a supermarket for a couple of years and then full time in a call centre in Human Resources for 12 years.

In 2006 I fell pregnant with my son. He was a complete surprise. That same year, in August, my father died completely unexpectedly at the age of 52.  He never met my son.
I was devastated by his loss he was a pillar of strength to me. I wrote his eulogy and spoke at his funeral. This is when I started writing again for myself to try to understand and console my own grief while I was pregnant. I posted a birthday and anniversary post every year.

In June 2007, I lost my other pillar of strength, my grandfather, at the age of 70 after a short battle with brain cancer. I spent his last months visiting him in palliative care with my baby boy. I wrote his eulogy and spoke at his funeral as well.
I wrote to remember them both, and I tried to write the grief away. As many probably know, you can't write grief away. I've tried for 19 years. It builds a strong shadow.
During Covid, I started to look around online for places I could connect with other writers and reconnect with myself. I'd spent at that point 15 years being told to get over my grief and move on. I'd suppressed myself into motherhood to hide from the pain.

I filtered what I wrote. I tried to make it palatable and put snippets up on my personal online pages. I didn't really have an identity. Until October 2024.
After decades of playing small, a mentor helped me through deep shadow work to  unlock my truth.  My instagram page was born.

My writing was rebirthed through sensual energy. It started as a way to explore aspects of myself I'd left behind when I became a wife and mother. It was raw, it was a true journey, and it was all of me.
In January 2025, I decided to test myself and my muse by writing for prompt pages, I'd try my hand at any prompt. I was embraced by a group of sensual writers who really encouraged me to find depth.
These ladies helped me evolve. I'll always be thankful to them.

There are so many pages on instagram and people that have helped me to become more confident in myself. To explore different formats and genres. I am incredibly thankful to each and every one of them.
It has been a steep yet incredibly rewarding journey over the last eight months.
I am rewriting my souls path and becoming my own pillar of strength. It is a lifelong journey. I thought I'd be yelling into the void, yet my voice has found a home. I have been incredibly surprised and humbled by pages who have selected me as writer of the month, featured my poems, and recognised my writing with placements.
My wish is for my journey to inspire others who have or are suppressing their voice to take a leap of faith and write. Embrace the messy and beautiful human that you are. Healing is on the other side of your pen or these days keyboard!"
