Exclusive Interview with Star Artist, Rani!

Exclusive Interview with Artist extra-ordinaire, Rani
Rani is a Super star artist and art curator with an international ardent following and fanbase on social media.  We had the pleasure of having a sit down with her and bringing to the notice of everyone more intricate aspects of her life.  Interview excerpts below:

1. Tell us about your background

I am a 36-year-old, first-generation American of Indian heritage, residing in the United States. My life encompasses multiple roles, including that of a mother, wife, and working professional. As the spouse of a military service member, my family and I frequently relocate. I have traversed the traditional life path, excelling academically, participating in music and sports, pursuing higher education, embarking on a career, establishing a family, and nurturing our pets. Yet, I find myself pondering what the next chapter holds.

2. How did artistry all begin for you:

Art has always been a latent part of my life, a passion I had unconsciously set aside. Growing up, I absorbed the message that a viable career in art was elusive, and I should first secure a stable job. It was only when I reached a crossroads that I rekindled my artistic journey. I began to question whether it was time to follow my own aspirations.

3. What is your painting process like:

My artistic process commences with the selection of words, often from my own thoughts or the expressions of others. Given my personal challenge in verbal communication, I see this as an opportunity to practice conveying emotions through visual media. I contemplate the image for several days, delving into my life experiences, and the immediate reactions elicited by the chosen words. Since I work with watercolors, meticulous planning is crucial.

4. Do you usually have personal connections with your art:

Indeed, each artwork serves as a mirror reflecting the emotions and perceptions elicited by the words that inspire it. My art remains an unadulterated manifestation of my inner world, untouched by external influences. It allows me to share my personal vision and experiences.

5. Tell us about your favorite artists and what you like about their style:

In my view, the realm of art encompasses various categories, including classic, contemporary, and emerging artists. Among the classics, Gustav Klimt's "The Kiss" left an indelible impression on me. Its size, intricate gold detailing, and symbolism deeply resonate. Within this masterpiece, the duality of the man's sharp, compartmentalized prints juxtaposed with the woman's flowing, interconnected forms tells a compelling story of protection and grounding.

Among contemporary artists, Banksy's work initially confounded me, but over time, I came to appreciate its profound commentary on our technology-driven world. Banksy's art is a powerful messenger.

As for emerging artists, I greatly admire Eliza Valenti (https://www.instagram.com/elisavalentistudio/). Her ability to portray real women with strength and grace is remarkable. Her depictions exude a unique elegance that evokes a sense of empowerment.

6. You have quite the International fanbase online, especially Instagram... How does it feel to know that people all over the world read and resonate with your art:

The global resonance of my art is a heartwarming sensation that bridges distances, reminding us that art transcends language and culture. The simplicity of artistic expression speaks to the human soul, fostering a sense of unity. This connection with an international community is beautiful, and I look forward to learning and growing alongside it.

7. What would fans be most surprised to learn about you:

What might come as a surprise is my ongoing apprehension about creating and sharing my work. I haven't always carried this identity, nor do I possess formal training. The fear of potential judgment and criticism looms large. However, the desire for my creations to be witnessed by others drives me to confront and balance these emotions.

8. Other hobbies you love outside art and painting:

Painting represents my inaugural true hobby. It's a personal endeavor that I genuinely cherish. Apart from this, my interests include activities like Peloton, which contributes to my well-being. I also enjoy unwinding by watching movies and, of course, spending quality time with my family.

9. Are any of your paintings based on real life experiences or do you just tap into your imagination:

Yes, my artwork often stems from real-life experiences, particularly during challenging moments. I strive to encapsulate the essence of a phrase, an image, or an emotion in my paintings, intertwining them with elements of reality.

10. What was growing up like for you and what has the impact of family been like for you and how have they all perceived your talents as a world-class artist:

I was raised in a typical immigrant household in the United States, where emphasis was placed on hard work, education, financial security, and family. My family has been supportive of my pursuits, provided that I maintain a responsible and pragmatic approach. While my inner circle may not yet see me as an artist or notable figure, this endeavor marks a significant shift in my journey that they are still coming to terms with.

11. Some sources whispered to us that you are currently working on a special project. Please go into detail about this:

Without giving away too much, we have an upcoming product launch in support of a meaningful cause. Proceeds from this initiative will be directed to charity, making it an ideal gift choice for the forthcoming holiday season.

12. What does artistic success mean to you:

To me, artistic success hinges on the ability to inspire individuals who never considered dabbling in the arts. Success lies in encouraging them to explore creative expression, as a form of self-discovery or meditation, free from the constraints of traditional norms. I want everyone to realize that art, music, dance, and writing are not exclusive realms but should be accessible to all for the sheer joy of creating and expressing.

13. Would you Consider yourself a woman of faith:

To put it simply, yes, I am a woman of faith. My faith extends to myself and to the belief that there are greater energies beyond our understanding at play in the world.

14. What does Friendship mean to you:

Friendship is of paramount importance to me. It is the most valuable currency we possess, defined by love, choice, and absence of obligation. Friends are chosen without expectation, providing a unique space to share our human experiences. These relationships form the foundation of my life.

15. Do you have any special friendships along the line of your development as a creative that you would love to highlight:

Certainly, my friend Tim (@traumastrengthlove) has played a pivotal role in bolstering my confidence and offering validation. His poetic inspiration and unwavering enthusiasm has been instrumental in my journey.

16. What is your take on the state of the art community and what's your message to aspiring creatives that look up to you as a source of inspiration:

My message to aspiring creatives is simple: You can do it. Engage in creative expression for self-discovery, meditation, or the pure joy of creating. Art is not the exclusive domain of art history scholars or literary professors. It belongs to all of us. So, pick up that brush, doodle, and let your creativity flow.

17. How would you describe your personality:

Describing my personality is a challenge, but I would say that I tend to be highly analytical.

18. Besides your passion for poetry, what else are you equally passionate about:

Beyond my artistic pursuits, I am deeply passionate about being a dedicated mother and serving as a positive role model for the young individuals in my life.

19. Your parting words to your teeming followers and fans worldwide:

I look forward to witnessing your creative expressions. If I can do it, so can you. Be well.
