K.G Caroll is an exceptionally talented and gifted poet with remarkable passion and determination to make impactful strides in the world through her craft and this is very obvious in her zeal and her achievements in the world of Literature, specifically poetry speaks for itself. Her selflessness and consistent love and support for the poetry community is exactly why K.G Caroll is now here on the most prestigious Poetry platform in the world. This was also a long time in the making as Caroll is a hard woman to pin down, We digress!

Today, we take a deep foray into the world of K.G Caroll with excerpts below chronicling her incredible story.

K.G. Carroll is a poet and writer residing in Central Valley California. She grew up roaming the orange groves and vast golden hills beneath the magnificent Sierra Nevada mountains and the Sequoia National Forest. In this vast expanse of beauty she often found herself alone and was forced to learn how to entertain herself. Finding an escape from the harsh realities of life, she found a love for words. Rhyming, word play, and her vivid imagination faced no boundaries. Like an untamed meadow of wildflowers she hopes her words will seed in the minds of her readers. Though often tainted with darkness the message she leaves behind is etched with bravery and resilience and she hopes to touch her readers with a glimmer of hope in a world so often shaded in darkness so that they too, may bloom.

I have raised two amazing and successful young men who grew up to be kind and intelligent, leading life with their hearts and compassion and I'm currently raising my two best friends, my 12 and 13 year old daughters who will be turning 13 and 14 soon.

I was pregnant with twins, but one didn't make it and circumstances fell in such a way that in the midst of my anguish I was presented with the opportunity to adopt a young 18 month old baby girl. She is only 10 months (300 days) younger than the twin that survived, and so they are very much like twins, and it was very much like raising twins when I brought her home. With them being so close in age, it has been two of everything ever since. It's been both painful and healing for me on this path, and I often wonder how and why things ended up this way, but I have faith that it was simply meant to be.

My Forays into Poetry and Writing

To add to this, I would say that my writing is a complexity of both inner pain and imagination. I tend to use nature and symbolism in my writing. I like to take the meanings of flowers, colors, and astrology to add subliminal messages if not for the reader, then for myself. I rarely write a piece without some secret hidden in between my words.

When I started my journey as a writer I wasn't aware of the vast community awaiting my words. I had started my Facebook page as a means to post my photo blending art and popular quotes and posts I found while scrolling online, but got bored of it quickly.  I realized some years later that I always had a love for writing with no need for an audience, but I lost everything I wrote and so I began writing and posting to the page I had abandoned, deciding to bring purpose to it. A personal journal of my writing for me and for whatever following may or may not come. I certainly did not expect to be where I am now. I had no intentions of ever creating an Instagram account or ever publicly putting my name or face out there.

It was my publisher and friend @writerjaylong and my mentor Jo @fragmentspoetry (who's also published some of my work) who talked me into changing my handle from @kry.wolf_poetry to @kg.carroll and to embrace myself for who I am. Still, to this day they are guiding me and very faithfully and patiently pushing me towards publishing my own book or two, or three. Besides them, it's the warm welcome of the community that encourages me daily to continue on. 

I think it's an incredibly hopeful and inspiring message to reflect on. With my life having such a rough start, to being here now, following my dreams with the incredible personalities that I've been blessed to meet. The support,  the love, the friendship. If anything, I would like to one day be that person for someone else.

Aside from writing and dreaming, I'm an avid animal lover with a small zoo of my own. I help my daughter follow her dreams by allowing (and doing most of the work for) her to foster kittens. We are on a hiatus, currently as we are still healing our hearts from a house fire we had in October and are still waiting to move back home. Her goal is to one day have a non profit animal shelter, and my goal is to make her happy as with all of my children. Currently in my zoo are dogs, cats, a field mouse, tarantula, tortoises, pond turtles, and dart frogs.
