Introducing the amazing Raine!
Raine is an exceptionally talented and gifted poet, and fiction writer with remarkable passion and determination to make impactful strides in the world through her craft and this is very obvious in her zeal and her consistency in the world of Literature, specifically poetry speaks for itself. Her relatable and soulful style of writing is exactly why Raine is now here on the most prestigious Poetry platform in the world.

Today, we take a  foray into the world of Raine with excerpts below detailing her incredible story.

"I’ve always loved reading and writing. I can’t remember a time in my life without either being a coping mechanism for me. I first fell in love with poetry when I was in 5th grade. I adored an old poetry book in my classroom so much that I began copying the poems from Robert Frost and Carl Sandburg to take home with me. My very kind teacher eventually gifted me the book.

In junior high school, I began using poetry as a way to say all the things that I wasn’t brave enough to say. It gave me a voice at a time in my life, when I was so painfully shy and awkward as the new kid who was first generation born in the US from an immigrant family in a program for the gifted and talented, where my home lifestyle didn’t align with all my wealthier classmates.  Don’t get me wrong.  My parents loved me. My classmates were as kind as 12 kids can be. I just didn’t fit in anywhere and I felt it in my bones. I was too aware of my parents’ complicated situation, and I learned how to be a people pleaser, an over achiever, a self sacrificer and at times my own worst enemy.

I pursued my writing and had pieces published in the high school literary magazine and eventually worked on the magazine staff.  I went on to get a Bachelor’s in English Literature and Writing at Texas A&M University, where I worked in the writing center tutoring athletes and also worked as a staff writer on the yearbook staff.  Selling copy to magazines was only getting me 2 to 3 cents a word and a girl has to eat. Therefore, when I graduated, I went into IT as my profession, and I’ve been happy in that world. I love art too but writing is still my favorite method of self expression. I still love to tell stories.

My family always encouraged my writing, but it wasn’t until I had the worst year of my life that I made the decision to start pursuing my writing again on Instagram and through literary journals. When you have so much stripped away from you, what’s truly important becomes clear. I was ready again to share my heart and all the stories in my head.  I don’t know if I’m purely a poet or a fiction writer.  I just know that writing and poetry are in my soul".
