1. Tell us about your Background.
I was born in Spokane WA and moved up to Seattle WA when I was very young. I come from two loving adoptive parents and they mean the absolute world to me.
2. How did poetry all begin for you
I started writing poetry as soon as I could write. But I started getting serious about it around 15 when I started becoming more aware of all the injustices happening in my community and so it became my outlet to be able to talk about what was going on.
3. What is your writing process like
My writing process consists of me feeling strongly about something and then needing to write about it. I guess that hasn’t really changed over the years.
4. Do you usually have personal connections with your poems
I always have personal connections with my poems, especially now.
5. Tell us about your favorite poets and what you like about their writing style.
I like Genesis Bee. A lot right now. A book my aunt got me for christmas was full of her poems and I love the way she writes about the color red.
6. You have quite the International fanbase online, especially Instagram... How does it feel to know that people all over the world read and resonate with your writing
I love that people read and resonate. Even if people don’t resonate I feel like I write for everyone because either way someone is going to have an opinion.
7. What would fans be most surprised to learn about you
Fans might be surprised to learn that I am in school to become a teacher.
8. Other hobbies you love outside writing and poetry
I also love spending time with my family and my daughter and planning fun things to do with her.
9. Are any of your poems based on real life experiences or do you just tap into your imagination
All of my poems are based on real life experiences or emotions.
10. What was growing up like for you and what has the impact of family been like for you and how have they all perceived your talents as a world class poet
My family is very supportive in what I do. I love my family so much, especially parents. They have been there for me through it all!
11. Some sources whispered to us that you are currently working on a special project.please go into detail about this
I am currently coming out with a detailed book, written anonymously of course, because of some of the things I have been through, but it will be a tell all realistic fiction, even though it’s all real events and I’m super excited about it. It will cover a lot of controversial issues and political issues and ideals in it as well. I'm really excited. Also I am working on another poetry book.
12. What does literary success mean to you
Literary success means to me that I am making enough money from my writing that I don’t have to work anymore but I could if I wanted to.
13. Would you Consider yourself a woman of faith?
I definitely believe in God, and I find it necessary to teach my daughter about the word as well
14. What does Friendship mean to you?
Friendship means to me loyalty and unconditional love. Hard to find.
15. Do you have any special friendships along the line of your development as a creative that you would love to highlight?
I definitely have a few special friends. I love them very much! Shoutout to Kim and Shamiya! My girls really hold it down for me.
16. What is your take on the state of the poetry community and whats your measage to aspiring creatives that look up to you as a source of inspiration
My take on the poetry community right now is that I feel like there are so many different free voices out there and it’s just amazing that no matter who you are, poetry gives you a safe space to be yourself and I just hope it continues being that and giving that.
17. How would you describe your personality
I would describe my personality as sheltered.
18. Asides your passion for poetry, what else are you equally as passionate about
I am also passionate about motherhood, first, motherhood is very important to me, she is only ever going to be her and I got to be there for everything.
19. Your parting words to your teeming followers and fans worldwide.
My parting words are “Keep doing what you’re passionate about”.
