Zowie is an exceptionally talented and gifted poet, with remarkable passion and determination to make impactful strides in the world through her craft and this is very obvious in her zeal and her consistency in the world of Literature, specifically poetry speaks for itself. Her relatable and brilliant style of writing is exactly why Zowie is now here on the most prestigious Poetry platform in the world. 

Today, we take a  foray into the world of Zowie with excerpts below detailing her beautiful story. 

"Poet, Educator, Daughter of Light

I am Zowie Norris—a poet, a teacher, a seeker of beauty, hope, and truth. I walk gently through the world with open eyes and an open heart, translating fleeting moments and deep emotions into words.

By profession, I am an educational leader and teacher of 26 years—an honour I hold dearly. Teaching allows me to witness transformation in others, just as writing allows me to explore transformation within myself.

I’ve loved writing for as long as I can remember. Throughout school, teachers often commented on my imagination and passion for storytelling—something I believe was sparked by my deep love of reading. Studying A-Level English Literature introduced me to the works of Shakespeare, Plath, Hughes, Donne, and Wordsworth, and I was captivated by how poetry could both tell a story and hold emotion with such power.

During my English and teaching degree, I began writing poetry of my own. At first, my poems were descriptive and informative—an extension of my daily work as a primary school teacher. But over time, poetry became something more: a way to process challenges, express emotion, and make sense of life’s harder moments. Though writing had always been a personal outlet, everything changed when I shared a heartfelt poem about losing my mum on my author page. The response was overwhelming—people found comfort and connection in my words. That experience encouraged me to keep sharing, and I’ve continued posting weekly ever since, finding healing and community through poetry.

Some of my most meaningful poems are shaped by the people who’ve shaped me: my daughters, who give me purpose and wonder every day; and my late mum, whose presence still guides me. Her memory is a quiet ember I carry always—glowing, steady, full of love. Writing often becomes a conversation with her, a way to hold onto her voice and spirit in the ever-moving current of life.

This love for poetry has led me to publish four heartfelt collections: Poetically Positive, a celebration of gratitude, mindfulness, and gentle strength; Harmoniously Hopeful, which explores resilience, healing, and the quiet courage we carry; Hope Rekindled, a reflective collection born from grief and the light that follows it; and Seasonal Symphonies, inspired by nature’s rhythm and the emotional seasons we all move through.

 Each book holds a piece of my journey and invites others to walk alongside it.

Poetry is part of my daily life—whether I’m reading the beautiful words of others or crafting my own, often scribbled on scraps of paper or written in the quiet dawn hours when the world is still. There’s something sacred about shaping raw emotion into something others can feel too. To create something beautiful with words—something both personal and universal—is a joy I never take for granted. What began as a personal outlet has become something greater—an act of connection and community. Sharing my poetry reminds me how powerful it can be when words give voice to what others may not know how to say. Through poetry, I continue to seek—and share—the beauty, the truth, and the hope that live in our everyday lives."
