"Rhonda Coughlin (giggles) — 💜Gigglestea Hatterwig — I write from the marrow, from the quiet truths and unspoken tenderness, from the survival‑songs that rise when the world tries to drown me. My work carries the shimmer of musty, dusty coastlines washing bone clean; the soft release of hope breathing life back into darkness; the cosmic‑velvet hum of dream‑pop and folk‑cello threading through my lines like a pulse.
As an autistic mother of two autistic children, I write in the language of lived experience — the kind that cannot be faked, polished, or flattened. My voice was forged through dyslexia, reading‑comprehension battles, and the stubborn determination to decode secret languages hidden inside books. I learned slowly, fiercely, building my own tricks and pathways until reading became a doorway instead of a wall.
My grandmother’s late‑life return to school lit the torch I still carry: learning is survival, and survival is art.
Another gifted me my first typewriter — the beginning of journaling, diaries, letter‑writing, creative‑writing class sprinkles, and therapy journaling where I learned to track moods and triggers.
Movement shaped my early rhythm — skating on cold rinks where my mind finally quieted, marching‑band trumpet cutting through autumn air, ringette and hockey sharpening my grit. Varsity as a freshman. A state win with The Edge women’s league. Ice became the place where I could breathe, where my thoughts aligned into the grooves that later became poems.
My life is stitched with resilience: on my own at 17, married at 21, divorced in 2009. Met a beautiful soul, than I married the love on my life in 2011, — a timeline that bends, breaks, and repairs itself like kintsugi. Our sons, born in March 2012 and October 2013, are the constellation I orbit, the quiet gravity in my work.
My poetry captures truth through animals, photography, nature, and the unfiltered emotions of people.
My archive holds pieces like “Love anchors the roots of the quiet truths…”, “Unquenched thirst screaming my name…”, and “My breath pauses… time folds inward…” — each one a doorway into the raw, unarmored places where my voice lives.
My aesthetic blends indigo‑gold cosmic shimmer with lavender‑silver tenderness, fantasy creatures, hummingbirds, doves, blue butterflies, and the bumper‑car magnet poetry I’m known for. I write in moves and grooves of the soul — a storyteller whose ink changes color with emotion, whose words feel like survival wrapped in stardust.
